Hi!

My name is Nelsy Bencosme. Fashion to me is a miraculous world of fantasy and hard work. I was born in the Dominican Republic but raised in NYC. During my high school years, I worked very closely with well-known fashion designer Norma Kamali, as she sponsored the fashion design program I was enrolled in. After graduating high school I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC. I studied there for two and half years and obtained my associates degrees in Patternmaking Technology. Soon after, I felt I needed a change and decided to move to Florida where I attended Miami International University of Art and Design (MIU). During my time at MIU I participated in various fashion design shows like the Miami fashion week FunkShion Show, and the Fashion Miami Shows. Some of which where competitions which I won and was awarded Best Cocktail Award winner and Best Style Award. In addition, I have also worked with local Miami designers, designing and developing the seasons collections. During my time at MIU, I obtained a bachelors degree in Fashion Design and a MA in Design and Media Management. I am currently working on obtaining an MFA in Merchandising from the Academy of Arts University.
